Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. Some of her early Broadway shows include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working with well-known directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the first impeachment proceeding in America during the Over 100 Years. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first significant part. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No new to Broadway Ashford has won Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Other Broadway roles are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she also received a Tony Award nomination. Ashford, who was raised in Denver, now spends time living in Los Angeles and New York.
